Lucy was hanging out at the park, enjoying herself and her guitar. It had been a while since she had composed anything so that was what she was trying to do. She began playing with the strings trying to find a good melody until she remembered of one acoustic covered she had worked on, just for fun. It was a popular song by Macklemore and she actually liked it a lot. She played the familiar chords on the acoustic guitar. Usually it was played with the piano but when she did covers, she preferred to go with something original and that wasn’t done already.

She tapped her hand on the guitar to give a bit as she played and her foot tapped onto the grass for the beat. A smile formed onto her lips as she began singing the lyrics softly.

People would expect that she had a rocker kind of voice (she did really, when she wanted) but this time, she decided to go in a different direction. She may want to become a rock star but her taste in music was vast and she didn’t mind going on with a few pop songs or to actually go with rap. As long as there weren’t anything dealing with classical music she was fine with it. She smiled when a familiar voice began singing along with her.

Laying around his new apartment, the young singer has nothing to do. He had a day off and of course it seemed like everybody he knew was either busy or not currently in L.A. at the moment. Sitting up, he let out a sigh. He needed something to do, anything. Maybe a walk in the Palm Woods Park would help clear his mind. He didn't live too far away from the Palm Woods and Rocque Records. And he could always visit Katie and whoever was living in 2J.

Changing into some clean clothes, James grabbed his keys and his phone and did one last check in the mirror to make sure he looked good. James was still self-centered as always, but being this good looking it was a given.

The walk to the Palm Woods Park wasn't very long, only around fifteen minutes if a fan didn't stop to ask for an autograph. And lucky for him, a fan did not stop and ask for a picture of autograph. The park was like how it always was; filled with people off in their own little world doing whatever they wanted. But one thing did catch James Diamond off guard; Lucy Stone was at the park and she was singing. She wasn't singing some heavy metal rock song, it was a Macklemore song. This was his opportunity to join in and kind of surprise her.

Let that stage light go and shine on down, got that Bob Barker suit game and plinko in my style." James sang as he walked over to her. Oh yeah he was a fan of Macklemore. But then again who wasn't?

Lucy was indeed surprised that James knew that song…okay, not really since it was quite a popular one but she did was surprised in him joining her without having much trouble to follow. She sang along with him the lyrics he did in the background. She had never really sang together with him and it was surprisingly pleasant to do so, and it was why she continued singing along with him.

This time, she was looking at him with a challenging gaze. She was curious to see about if he would keep up, or if he knew just the first lyrics he sang. Part of her knew that he actually knew the song by heart but she still enjoyed doing it. She couldn’t help but push people to their best and…have a little bit of challenge. Singing with James was indeed one, in a way since she never did that. She moved around, making room for him if he wanted to sit next to her as she continued playing the chords on the guitar.

It wasn’t rock, or heavy metal but it was still good. Besides, it’d be a bit hard to play heavy metal on an acoustic guitar. She had a soft spot for electric ones. She focused back on the song as she continued to sing along with him wondering about when Macklemore was going to come in town because she was definitely going to buy tickets when they did.

'Did Lucy just unofficially challenge you to some sort of battle to see who could win against singing a Macklemore song?' James questioned himself. And sure enough, she did. 'Oh, it is on' he spoke to himself mentally. James liked to view himself as king of music. He knew a wide arrange of songs from pop to rap and even some R&B. He had been preparing for himself to become famous ever since he was in Kindergarten.

James shook his head and walked over closer to Lucy. "Just give up, I know this song like the back of hand. I'll win" James smirked at her. Yes that was his little was of saying 'hey how have you been, what have you been up, etc', all of that lovely stuff while he was being competitive. And by how Lucy only kept singing along, he could tell that it was an all out war. But maybe sh didn't know the song as well as he did. And if she did, he would have to find a new song for them to see who was better at.

Lucy tried hard to hold back her smirk as she watched him. Okay, she didn’t stop herself from doing that. She loved challenging others and even more her friends. She considered James as one even though he was weird at time and a little bit too flirtatious. Not only that but she also had a light crush on him which was why she went back for him the other day though, she never really told him. For now, she refused to think that she was actually falling for someone like him. Sure, he wasn’t the kind to cheat on others like Beau but she still wans’t sure they’d be compatible. Anyways, why was she thinking of that while she was purposely challenging him?

She continued playing the guitar and singing with him until he stopped as he walked closer to her. She arched an eyebrow at his words though wasn’t afraid of his challenging words. It was when she stopped playing the guitar. “Oh really? To the point of singing it backwards?” she asked him. She wasn’t about to back down on a challenge she started. She could also try to challenge him into a Heavy Metal song; it’d be hilarious to watch him trying to act like someon tough or even better, scream. Could he even do that?

“You know I never give up on things like this…” she said, okay, maybe it wasn’t entirely true since she left right after Kendall picked Jo over her but that was in the past. She was surprised though that he was here on his own and not even with one of the four boys that once formed Big Time Rush. Those were good times she thought. “What are you doing on your own?” she asked curiously.

When she had asked if he could even sing the song backwards, James paused for a minute. Did he really know the song THAT well? "Yeah, not sure about that one" he commented. "But I do know it really well. So more like on one side of my hand." he added. Currently, he was happy to take a small break on seeing who could finish or know the song better. For he knew the winner was him.

When Lucy had asked what he was doing, James shrugged his shoulders. "I was bored being inside my new apartment. So I decided to come and visit the Palm Woods. See how my little sister Katie was doing." he said, he had always considered her as his little sister. "But I ran into you instead" he added, flashing her a smile.

"But enough about me. Let's talk about you. And more about, why you're back and haven't even tired to contact me. I know you know that you have my phone number." James said rather quickly, attempting to get to the point as fast as he possibly could, and folded his arms across his chest. It was obvious to a blind man that he had a thing for Lucy. Hell he had a thing for her ever since she first arrived at the Palm Woods. It wasn't a silly little crush that would come and go. No, he really care for her.

Lucy smirked; oh well, too bad he didn’t take on that challenge, it would have been interesting to watch him actually try to sing a song backwards. She knew that he had a bit of an ego…okay, he had an ego but somehow, he managed to be on her soft side. She even came back to LA for him, otherway, she’d probably be in some town in Europe or somewhere far away that would make her famous for what she was craving for; becoming a rock star. “I know the song well too, you might be surprised.” She commented not willing to let him win. The more she thought of it, the more she should probably make him sing some random heavy metal song just to see if he would actually do it or not.

She also remembered James had a new apartment and wondered about how it was and also, where it was. “I’ve heard you left Palm Woods.” She nodded. “How is your new apartment?” She asked casually. She never minded having a conversation with James. She smiled back even though she knew that he most likely flirted with her. It reminded her of her first day here at Palm Woods and how the BTR guys tried to catch her attention. They really did but maybe not the way they wanted it to be.

She froze when he questioned her about why she came back and didn’t contact him. “I’m sorry, I was busy recording music, I should have called you at least.” She gave him a small smile before looking away. This was getting awkward on her part but she tried her best not to let it show.

James shrugged his shoulders at the question on his apartment. "So far, I've had no parties because I have been too busy working. But at least it has some furniture in it." he said. Once he had bought the place, he had Mama Knight go shopping with him for furniture. "But maybe soon, I can throw a party to celebrate me having my own place and on working on my album. You're of course invited and you can bring some snacks." he said to her.

Hearing her say that she was busy recording as well, James could relate to it. He too was in that same little boat. "Okay, I forgive you. You can make it up to me by going on a date with me!" James said, determined. "Or we could hang out for a day and catch up on things." he added, in-case if she said 'no' which seemed to be a pattern with her.

"Speaking of my new album. We should totally do a duet on it." James said and flashed her a grin. This was they got to spend more time together since she had gone on a tour and then randomly came back. To him, it sounded like an amazing idea. Nothing could go wrong with it. It was a harmless song really.

Lucy had also thought of having an apartment of her own but being a sociable girl, she didn’t think she could actually bare being alone in an apartment far away from the others. Being in Palm Woods was good for that; she knew that Camille was still living there as well as Jo (even though they didn’t really start of as good friends, they somewhat ended up getting along well, they weren’t the greatest friends ever but at least they were able to stand each other’s company and she could even consider her as a friend by now). She was also surprised when she heard that Big Time Rush had split and missed old times but good things always had to end. She smiled at him when he invited her to a party he might throw. “That sounds like a good idea, Camille will probably love coming along with us as well.” She said.

Lucy blinked as James, once again, invited her to a date but she wasn’t sure about it. Would it mean she’d go too forward if she would have actually agreed on the date? She didn’t know, but his second idea seemed to be safer, for now on her end. “Hanging out for a day could be fun, I could kill you on a few video games.” She said, teasingly.

She paused as he proposed a duet and it did seem like a good idea considering she had never sang with him before. She nodded. “That could also work, we will kill it together, just text me, you know my phone number about it.” She focused back onto the strings of her guitar and played a little with them as she restrained herself from staring at him for too long and make things awkward.

"I actually have a free weekend this Friday, if you wanna help me throw a party. You could grab the food and drinks or something." James said, his mind now focusing on throwing a party at his new place. Of course he would invite Kendall, Logan and Carlos and even Katie. And all of his friends from the Palm Woods.

Instead of her picking the date option, James groaned mentally. Why did he even throw out a friend-zone option?! "Hey it could a video game day and movie night." James suggested to her, hoping to get her to say yes. It didn't have to be a date, even though he wanted it to be. Friends had movie marathons all the time, right? "You can pick whatever movies we watch, as long as I get to pick the video games"

When she had agreed to a duet, James grinned. On the inside, he was dancing with joy and having the time of his life. On the outside, he tried to look as cool and calm as he could be. Sure Lucy knew how dorky and goofy he was, but he didn't want to get too carried and end up scaring her off for good. "Awesome, next time I'm at the studio, I'll tell Gustavo about doing a duet with you."

The idea of having a party sounded nice; it had been a while since Lucy had had the chance of talking to everyone from Palm Woods. Sure, she got to still see Camille and Jo but it wasn’t the same as before and she did notice that. “Yeah, that could work, I could use a party to change my mind and actually see everyone from Palm Woods, like old days.” She smiled at the thought even though it was sad to think that she would already see things like ‘old’ days and it hadn’t been since that long that they have hung out all together.

She paused at James’ proposition. Video games and movies sounded good. She smiled at him as he said she could pick the movies; perfect; a horror movies marathon! A devilish glint appeared into her eyes for a brief instant as she thought of it. “Sounds like a perfect plan; we could do a horror movies marathon! I’ve been dying to have one!” She exclaimed happily. Not to add that she could tease James if he ever got freaked over the movies she would pick. Paranormal Activity 1-2-3-4 would be in game. Maybe also the exorcism and other movies of the like. Those were always scarier than movies about serial killers.

She nodded as James was more than happy to hear that she agreed for the duet. That sounded great. “We could have it publish on both of our albums at that.” She proposed as she rested her guitar onto her lap the time she spoke to James. If one thing sucked was that James was no longer at Palm Woods…then again, who knew what kinds of crazy ideas he would find while trying to win her heart (even though he had already won it without noticing it yet.

"Coolio, I'll text you about the details later" James smiled at her. So a party would be a good start for them to continue interacting with each other instead of texting. When Lucy had suggested a horror movie marathon, James grinned. Being friends with Aly had prepared him for this moment. "Do you see who you're talking to? I'm not Carlos, I can handle scary movies. He is the one who cries or freaks out during them." James explained to her. "Well then I would like to make one suggestion to the movie list. Silent Hill. It's been a while since I've seen it and I really like it." he told her.

"That's a really good idea." James said, the idea of putting a song on both their albums hadn't crossed his mind. With how busy he was working on it, simple ideas simply flew over his head sometimes. Sitting down on the bench next to her, he figured it was a good time to talk about the song they were going to be working on. "So do you have any ideas for the song? Cause I'm up for anything really. My album is gonna be a little more rock and roll than what I did with the guys." he explained to her. It was always good for an artist to try new things. Well that was what a lot of magazines told him.

Lucy nodded when they talked of the party. It would be fun, that’s for sure. She was always in for such celebrations and it was also going to be a way for him to forgive her for not calling him when she was there, as she was busy writing her new album. She couldn’t help smirking as she spoke of the horror movies marathon. It would be great and she was looking forward to it. Not that she expected James to be freaked by it…okay, maybe a little as they have never really watched movies together since in her head, it entered into the ‘dating’ category. “And you have no trouble sleeping after watching these?” she asked teasingly though she really wondered about if he did or not. Sometimes, she did but she would never admit it to him, or to anyone else for the matters. “Silent Hill is a great movie, it’s on the list.” She agreed with James’ suggestion, which also surprised her since it was indeed a scary one.

She smiled slightly when he agreed with her idea. “I’ve seen a few artists doing it, I don’t see why we couldn’t.” she commented. Not to add that she liked to think that she was a relatively big one too and being with James would rise up sells for both of their albums. She raised her eyebrows though when he said his album would be a bit more rock and roll than with the guys. She simply had a hard time seeing James as a wild person. “Oh really? What kind of ‘Rock and roll’?” she couldn’t help but ask; it indeed interested her.

"Well if we watch the first one, we have to watch the sequel. Because I haven't gotten to see that one yet." James admitted with a laugh. Even though the movie had been out for a while, he still hadn't seen it by now. He was always busy with something whether it involved his album or trying to get Lucy to go on a simple date with him.

"Well nothing heavy really. More like old school rock n roll. Like Elvis style, kind of." James told her. He wasn't about to go into some 'goth phase' and then it turn out that his album wouldn't sell because of it. "I figured I would try something new, you know live on the edge for a little while." he said with a laugh. Maybe if Gustavo said it was okay, he could add the song Paralyzed that he and the guys did (with the guys singing in it as well of course).

Giving her a smile, today was going really well for James. "I really can't wait for you to come and sing with me on my album. Maybe if we can't think of anything we can always do a cover of a song, if that's okay with you." he said to her.

Lucy didn’t mind about the movies she would get to watch with James, as long as they were worth it and gave her a good scare. The best were when she was going to the movie theater to watch them. It really gave off a different ambiance. She also remembered of the Conjuring and smirked slightly. “We got to watch the Conjuring as well!” She exclaimed. Oh, the list of scary movies she wanted to see was going wider and wider, she hoped James was ready for an all nighter and stay awake during the entire time!

Hearing him mention about becoming more rock and roll made her a bit curious on what kind of rock and roll he wanted to do but when he mentioned Elvis style she could see him do that. She nodded. “I would have been surprised if you were to get into heavy metal.” She admitted. To be honest, she would prefer James being himself over than trying to be a rock star; it wouldn’t suit him well.

She returned the smile as they spoke of the upcoming album and nodded. “Yeah, doing the cover of a song could be great too! There’s just so many possibilities we’ll have to think of it. I’ll come back to you if I ever have ideas, we could even perform some Macklemore if we want.” She laughed a bit since it was the song she challenged him on a few moments ago.
